My name is Rose Patricia, and I am a student at Thomas Jefferson University pursuing a B.S. in Textile Design. I consider myself a storyteller- I feel that the most meaningful work I can create is that which conveys meaning through art. I believe that textiles are a powerful medium which has the capacity to evoke a wide range of emotions, and my highest aspiration is to create pieces that create a true sense of resonance with viewers.

 

I spent two of the most important years of my life studying and living in Florence, Italy. My time there both reinforced my passion for design, as well as provided me with a wider range of influences to pull from in my work.

 

"SOOKI LA LA" is a name I decided to make my own. I was once called this term by an Australian fellow. I later found out that it is used to describe someone who is acting "overly sentimental" or a "whiny baby." So I said, "screw it!" I am wholeheartedly sentimental and I adore it!
